On July 14, 2025, the 235th Risk Engineering Research Meeting (RERM) was held at the University of Tsukuba. For this session, we were honored to welcome Dr. Koetsu Yamazaki, President of the Fukushima Institute for Research, Education and Innovation (F-REI), which joined our consortium this June. He delivered a lecture titled "F-REI’s Initiatives Aiming for Creative Reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Nuclear Disaster." In his lecture, Dr. Yamazaki provided a detailed overview of F-REI’s two-year journey since its establishment in April 2023 in Namie Town, as well as its future prospects. He discussed the organization’s efforts toward “creative reconstruction” of Fukushima and the Tohoku region, which suffered devastating damage from the compound disaster of the earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear accident. His talk covered various aspects including research and development, industrialization, and human resource development. The event was attended by many graduate students both on-site and online, and the Q&A session was lively and engaging, making it a highly meaningful occasion.
